Carpenter II

Florida Institute of Technology is currently searching for a Carpenter II for Facilities Operations.  This is a full-time position.

The Carpenter II must provide general maintenance and carpenter functions for all university facilities. In addition, tork to include, but not limited to, carpentry work, drywall, ceiling tile, roof repairs, framing, floor tile, doors, window treatment and glass replacement and other duties as assigned. Assist with renovations/remodeling projects to campus facilities.

Working hours Monday - Friday 8:00pm - 4:30pm, with occasional overtime.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform maintenance, repairs, remodeling and construction to all campus facilities on and off main campus
  • Assist with renovation and remodeling projects
  • Review, maintain and submit records regarding time and materials expended on projects
  • Must be able to work with all carpentry hand and power tools
  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe, clean and orderly condition
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends in an emergency or in support of after-hours University events
  • Hurricane preparedness and cleanup
  • Additional Duties as assigned


Education / skills required:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • 2 to 5 years carpentry related experience is preferred, education may substitute for experience
  • 10 hour OSHA certification is preferred.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver’s license or ability to obtain one within six months of employment and maintain good driving record as determined by Florida Tech guidelines.
