Florida Institute of Technology is searching for an Assistant Professor for the School of Psychology. This is a full-time position.

We are seeking full-time, tenure-track faculty members in the Clinical Psychology, PsyD program at Florida Institute of Technology to begin in August 2021. We are targeting the Assistant Professor level. Applications from individuals with culturally diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged.

Founded at the dawn of the Space Race in 1958, Florida Institute of Technology is the only independent, technological university in the Southeast, and offers degree programs at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. Located two miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean in Melbourne, FL, Florida Tech mixes the excitement of rocket launches from nearby Kennedy Space Center with the laidback atmosphere of a beach community.

The School of Psychology has a collegial and productive faculty, and offers both undergraduate degrees and graduate degrees in Applied Behavior Analysis and Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

We are seeking dynamic, engaging, and effective scholars who are expected to demonstrate commitment to broad and general training consistent with the Standards of Accreditation. Candidates should have a program of clinical research that will lead to publications and presentations with the potential to secure external funding. While all excellent candidates will be considered, it is our goal that candidates would complement the broad and general aspects of training with several possible areas of interest that would be particularly useful, including assessment and testing, forensics, child, diversity, clinically relevant research and quantitative analyses, and psychotherapy training.

Candidates are expected to show abilities in including diversity in the curriculum. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellence in teaching, mentorship, and research. This includes teaching experience at the college/university level and the ability to mentor doctoral research projects. Our program features a range of courses across the spectrum of the discipline. We have an excellent student faculty ratio and students enjoy close working relationships with faculty.

The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background in empirically based therapies and assessment. Clinical supervision of students in our training clinic is a part of teaching responsibilities. He or she would also direct doctoral research projects that are similar in form to dissertations. Teaching will also include foundational knowledge courses in the PsyD program and/or undergraduate psychology courses.

The core clinical faculty participates in year-round program activities including student selection and admission processes, annual student evaluations, grading clinical oral and written comprehensive exams, and program strategic planning. The successful candidate will be committed to student success across the curriculum.
