Assistant Pool Manager

Florida Institute of Technology is currently searching for an Assistant Pool Manager for the Clemente Center. 

The Assistant Pool Manager is responsible for assisting the Aquatic Director with the general supervision of the operations of the Panther Aquatic Center. Additionally, the Assistant Pool Manager assists the Aquatics Director with overseeing the Panther Aquatic Center pools. He or she will be assisting with the planning, coordinating, scheduling, and evaluating a variety of programs that would be beneficial to the Florida Tech community and the patron members. The Assistant Pool Manager is also responsible assisting with the training, certifying, scheduling and supervising lifeguards for the Panther Aquatic Center. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists the Aquatics Director with the scheduling of all pool activities and private rentals to ensure optimum pool usage; helps coordinate programming with supervisors and in keeping with center needs.
  • Helps develop and schedule aquatic programming for the center to include swim meets, youth swimming, and other aquatic programs as developed and assigned
  • Assists with the training and scheduling of qualified lifeguards, instructors and all other pool staff; directly supervises lifeguards, instructors, and other aquatic staff.
  • Assists with the development of lifeguard deck rotational system for monitoring the pools and all other pool deck operations.
  • Performs regular safety inspections of pools and equipment to reduce hazards and to provide maximum safety to the patrons.
  • Helps with the filtration system and other aquatic operating systems with the assistance of the Building Maintenance Worker. Maintains proper pool chemical balance.
  • Responds to patrons and evaluates programs to determine public needs and how to increase program efficiency and effectiveness; receives patron complaints and suggestions
  • Other duties assigned by the Aquatics Director and Director of Athletics

Education/Skills required:

  • High School diploma
  • Minimum 0–2 years of relevant work experience required
  • Red Cross Life Guard Certification (CPR, First Aid, AED, Skills for Profession
  • Red Cross Life Guard Instructor Certification (Preferred)
  • CPO (Certified Pool and Spa Operator)
