Florida Institute of Technology is currently searching for a Dispatcher for the Security department. 

The Department of Security Dispatchers responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting students and campus employees via the phone, email and in person. As well the ability to communicate with 911 or non-emergency numbers to provide the appropriate response.

Dispatcher’s also provide administrative office support and must be able to perform various secondary administrative and clerical duties.

The ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills, experience in Microsoft Word and Excel and the ablity to remain calm and in control within a busy professional work place. The hours for this position are Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:00pm, inclusive of holidays

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Answer multiple phone lines, dispatch officers to appropiate locations, on and off campus, for daily calls and emergency situations.
  • Receives and responds to email correspondence and assists walk-ins with their inquiries following established procedures
  • Provide clerical support as needed, special projects, scanning and data entry.
  • May be required to work during emergency situations, which may require the officer to remain at the University until the emergency situation has terminated. Work designated alternate hours and perform other responsibilities as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Skills required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • State of Florida driver's license and maintain a good driving record as defined per Florida Tech insurance guidelines is required
  • Administrative experience, dispatch experience, computer knowledge in Microsoft Office; Excel and Word, and familiarity within industry is preferred.
  • Security, military, law enforcement, correctional, medical, dispatch and/or administrative support experience is favored.
