Florida Institute of Technology is currently searching for a Copy Center Specialist for the Copy Center department.  This is a full-time position. 

Under general direction, the Copy Center Specialist is essential to the operations of the Florida Tech Copy Center. Their purpose is to perform a variety of technical and supporting services in the area of digital print production. To assist in print production, cost analysis, and stay up-to-date business activities & practices; performs related duties as assigned. 

 

Duties and responsibilities

Produces, coordinates, schedules, facilitates and monitors printing and production services for the Florida Tech Copy Center. This includes but not limited to: copying, digital printing, binding, large format printing, mounting on foam board, and cutting or folding using equipment or by hand. Reviewing online print requests organizes and implements a production work schedule for processing requests and maintains job log for assigned projects. Work closely with Manager or alone to produce work or maintain the production schedule to insure the timely completion, availability, and delivery of projects. (Will deliver to on campus departments when needed). Provide direction and technical support during schedule interruptions to accommodate emergency requests for customers. Assist in researching, evaluating, and forecasting trends in commercial printing technology. Continual learning of print processes and print technology.

• Assist the Manager in any clerical work as requested.
• Well versed in Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator Creative Cloud.
• Inspects and verifies completed projects meet quality standards.
• Monitors all printing systems to insure appropriate and safe procedures are followed as required by operation manuals, the Manager, or the office established printing practices.
• Oversee work study or college roll in the temporary absence of the Manager.
• Maintains inventory of paper, bindery supplies, toner, and other consumables
• Assist in billing and producing quotes as requested by manager or customer.
• Performs other related duties commensurate with the requirements of the printing and production department.

The specialist should have knowledge of best printing practices and provide high quality customer service to all who enter the office. Assist or recommend clients in how to formulate print requests, choosing appropriate style, paper (paper types, weights, finishes and sizes), ink combinations for job, and best file formatting. Prepared to assist in adjusting files for printing or troubleshooting errors as needed. Contacting departments or individuals on visible errors or concerns with files submitted for printing.  Maintaining and establishing cooperative working relationships with staff and clients. Exercise a high degree of judgment and utilize various strategies regarding project development and the production process.

Qualifications

Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described. Extensive customer service experience; experience in print and production, and using printing rip software.

Qualifications include:
• Must be able to carry up to 25 lbs, stand or walk for extended bursts of time.
• Extensive knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite; Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro
• Extensive knowledge in Microsoft Suite; Publisher, Excel, Microsoft Word, Power Point
• Understand the relationship between graphic artwork, and computer printing programs.
• Creative and knowledge of design concepts.
• Effective communication both oral and written; understand use of Email etiquette (as email is often our best form of contact).
• Valid driver’s license.

Working conditions/Benefits

The Copy Center is a high paced work environment, often working on close deadlines. Work can often be tedious and labor intensive. We serve various constituents including; Staff, Faculty, Students, and External Clients. Specialist hourly schedule is 7:45am to 4:45pm with one hour lunch break.
