Florida Institute of Technology is currently searching for an Architectural Designer for Facilities Operations.  This is a full-time position.

Facilities Operations is responsible for construction, operations and maintenance of 2 million square feet of facilities and 135 acres of grounds located throughout campus and off campus sites. .This position, reporting to the Senior Architectural Designer will provide landscape, hardscape, and interior architectural drafting services, archival and file management services of record documents and drawings, as well as provide as-built documentation. This position requires extensive working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel. Working hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm.

 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Consult with consultants and vendors
  • Assist with maintaining the space utilization database and floor plans.
  • Participate in campuswide sustainability efforts.
  • Develop working drawings from schematics prepared by others. 
  • Assist with cost estimating.
  • Assist with selection of interior and exterior finishes and furnishings.
  • Maintenance of drawing and specification archives, and updates to university standard specifications.
  • Provide 3D renderings of existing and proposed facilities, both interior and exterior.
  • Research applicable codes and regulations.
  • Assist with coordination of student employees.
  • Inspect the work of others to ensure quality and compliance with design and code requirements.
  • Additional duties as assigned

 

Education / skills required:

  • Associate degree, or vocational, or technical school degree. Architectural, Civil Engineering, Environmental/Interior Design degree or equivalent required
  • State of Florida Driver's license and ability to maintain a good driving record per Florida Tech insurance guidelines
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience required in area of expertise
  • Must be proficient in AutoCad and other pertinent design software

* Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment. All international degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES).
