Florida Institute of Technology is currently searching for a Director of Housing for the Housing department. This position is full-time.

The Director of Housing is responsible for the day-to-day operations of University Housing serving approximately 1,700 students.  The Director of Housing is responsible for the implementation of the major processes in the office including housing applications, housing assignments, coordinating student move-in/move-out, and damage assessment.  The position supervises the Assistant Director of Housing and Panther Bay Property Manager and co-supervises the Housing Coordinator.  This position will provide customer service to students and parents that visit Campus Services and through responding to emails and phone calls. 

During the summer, the Director of Housing is responsible for being the departmental liaison with Facilities and Nationals to ensure rooms are ready.  The position will lead summer operations meeting between campus partners to keep all the responsible departments in communication. 

This position will require some evening and weekend work during key points of the year especially at the beginning and end of each semester.  

 

 

Description of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for oversight and implementation of housing operations.  This includes processes related to housing applications, assignments, student move-in, check-out processes, and damage assessments.   
  • Directly supervises Assistant Director of Housing  and Panther Bay Property Manager along with the AVP of Housing, co-supervises Housing Coordinator.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Nationals, and Conference Services to lead summer planning meetings and maintain communications regarding the status of housing bed spaces during the summer.
  • Provide customer service to students and parents that visit Campus Services and assist with managing the front of Campus Services.
  • Work with Facilities and the Housing Coordinator to replace housing furniture and appliances as needed.
  • Assist with oversight over departmental email accounts and respond to parent/student phone calls.
  • Maintain and update marketing efforts to include brochures, websites, and signage across campus.

 

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's required, Master's in higher education or student affairs preferred.
  • Prefer experience with Housing Management System, CS Gold, Banner, and Workday.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience required in area of expertise.
  • Previous supervision experience; experience in college housing and/or residence life, preferred experience working with housing assignments
