The Florida Institute of Technology is currently searching for an Accountant for the Office of the Controller. This is a full-time position.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual journal vouchers and account reconciliations
  • Overall knowledge of long-term debt and bond accounting
  • Assist in preparation of annual audits, including Single Audits in accordance with OMB Circular A-133
  • Manage fixed asset accounting process on campus
  • Effectively manage deadlines and deliverables with various departments and relationships across the university.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage monthly fixed asset accounting process including entering assets, reconciling to financial statements and various systems and running reports
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual journal vouchers and account reconciliations, including long term debt and bonds.
  • Assist in preparation of annual audit required information
  • Effectively manage deadlines and deliverables with various departments across campus
  • Back-up month-end duties assigned to other Senior Accountants/Accountants
  • Manage multiple projects with attention to details and deadlines
  • Work cohesively with the accounting team to perform month end closing duties
  • Analyze accounts to determine transactions are recorded appropriately; research and correct any discrepancies
  • Works independently and takes initiative to problem solve for solutions

 

Education/Skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent knowledge obtained through a combination of education, training and experience)
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience required in area of expertise
