Florida Tech is currently searching for an experienced Financial Analyst to join the Office of Financial Services as the Senior Financial Analyst. This is a full-time position.

The primary responsibility of this position is the analysis of financial data to support the AVP of Finance in building a culture of data-informed decision-making on campus.  This work will include development and maintenance of financial models and forecasting tools, analysis and reporting of our current fiscal status, conducting regular forecasting activities and supporting the annual budget process.  Responsibilities will also include preparing ad-hoc analysis on budget performance at the institutional and department level, as requested, investigating variances, providing justification, and assisting in resolution of budget issues throughout the course of the year.

Duties:
• Data Analysis: Extracts and manipulates complex data sets, performs analysis of data, and interprets/organizes results into meaningful reports that can be acted upon for internal and external constituencies; manages data sets; verifies data to ensure data integrity.  Prepares reports and analyses in support of other key institutional activities and strategic plan goals.
• Data Visualization: Develops and enhances office data presentation and visualization; focus on developing standard reports and templates that can be run by end-users; utilizes visualization and self-service reporting to increase efficiency and support end user needs;
• Regular forecasting and cost projections: Conducting thorough research of historical financial data, comparing anticipated and actual results and identifying areas of improvement.
• Review of transactional data for accuracy.
• Assist in establishing financial policies.
• Active participation in annual planning and budgeting activities.

 

Qualifications:
• Proven work experience as a Senior Financial Analyst or similar role. Experience in the higher education industry preferred but not required.
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent knowledge obtained through a combination of education, training and experience) is required.
• Hands-on experience with financial and statistical software; expertise in MS Excel; familiarity with finance databases; understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP).
• Excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills; ability to analyze and interpret data; ability to produce both descriptive and inferential statistical analyses.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills; ability to relay complex results in an organized and easily understandable way; excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, as well as ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks and deadlines; ability to work both independently and part of a team.
• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience required.
