Aeronautical Science Faculty

The College of Aeronautics is seeking full-time faculty members for the undergraduate aeronautical science and graduate applied aviation safety programs. Selected applicants must be in place for the Fall 2020 semester.





Responsibilities (priority order):

• Teach three or more of the following undergraduate courses:
• Private pilot ground school.
• Instrument rating ground school.
• Commercial pilot ground school.
• Instructor pilot ground school.
• Airline transport pilot and aircraft dispatcher ground school.
• Aerodynamics.
• Aviation Safety.
• Aviation Physical Science.
• Teach graduate courses according to qualifications. Advanced avionics expertise desirable.
• Teach selected courses in person and via distance learning in international and domestic extended-campus programs.
• Advise undergraduate and graduate students on academic matters and career planning.
• Serve on division, school, and university committees as assigned.
• Obtain external funding for and conduct research in contemporary aviation-related issues.
• Supervise graduate students conducting research.


Minimum Qualifications:
• Graduate degree in aeronautical science, aviation or related field
• Experience in fields applicable to aviation.
• Teaching experience.
• FAA Advanced Ground Instructor (or Certified Flight Instructor) and Instrument Ground Instructor (or Certified Flight Instructor Instrument) certificates.
• Ability to apply current instructional technology in classroom and distance learning.

Desired Qualifications: 
• Doctoral degree in a field applicable to aviation.
• University teaching experience.
• At least one rating in a turbine aircraft.
• CFI, CFII, MEI, ATP with at least 1000 hours of dual instruction given and 24 months of cumulative instruction.
• FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate.
