Florida Institute of Technology is searching for a Senior Director, Facilities Operations for the Facilities Operations department.  This is a full-time position. 

The Senior Director leads the strategy and execution of sub-facets in the department through a group of subordinate directors and managers within the University. The Senior Director contributes to development of the strategic plan for the department and is accountable for the other Directors, the  achievement of the strategic goals and supporting projects for the overall mission of the University.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Reporting to the SVP of Operations at times to the AVP of Operations (assumes this responsibility AVP of Operations in their absence)
  • Oversees implementation of functional strategy through subordinate staff and ensures adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems. Takes responsibility for operational effectiveness of assigned department.
  • Develops departmental policies, procedures, and service standards to facilitate the University’s overall strategy and objectives. Operates strategic plan and sets milestone and reports for progress.
  • Mentors and coaches direct reports on effective people management. Corrects course of action if necessary and provides job performance feedback for all subordinate staffing.
  • Actively assists in development of short- and long-term strategic plans for the University as it relates to their department
  • Directs and coordinates the department’s financial budget activities to fund operations, increase staff efficiency and total costs of ownership for products and services.
  • Ensures quality employees are recruited, retained, and appropriately compensated. Manages resolution of employee issues, ensuring that they are handled consistently with University policies
  • Disaster preparedness and response
  • Negotiate and administer contracts for work performed by others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Education/Skills required:

  • Master’s degree
  • Florida General Contractor’s License (Preferred)
  • State of Florida driver's license
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience required in area of expertise
