Florida Institute of Technology is currently searching for a Locksmith Supervisor for Facilities Operations Department.  This is a full-time position. 

The lockshop is a division of the Building Maintenance department on campus. The primary function is
to provide safe, functional and secure doors, locks and hardware campus-wide.
The Locksmith Supervisor will perform skilled locksmith work in the repair, alteration, installation, and
keying of locks on all buildings, equipment, and lockers. This position is responsible for resolving
operational and safety concerns, as well as maintaining a campus-wide keying system. This role will
also purchase, maintain, install, and service electronic card access, access devices, and systems.
They will maintain a preventative maintenance program and assist other skilled trades.
This is a salaried position. Normal Working Hours Monday - Friday 8:00pm - 4:30pm.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Install new locks (mechanical and electronic type) and door hardware as needed. This would include new construction, remodel
    projects, breakage, etc. Repair and adjust door mounted closers, hinges, doors, ADA operators, exit devices, and panic hardware.
  • Design, install and maintain Master-Key systems, including new construction and remodel projects. Keep accurate and up-to-date
    record of all keys and locks, maintain database of all keys issued.
  • Consult and assist Project Managers, Designers, and Building Maintenance Supervisors regarding design standards, hardware
    specifications, and codes, including ADA, Life Safety, HIPPA and Fire Code compliance for new and existing construction.
  • Rekey locks for security purposes, respond to lost key incidents, and change safe combinations. Maintain tools, equipment and
    lock shop inventory; procure equipment and materials for maintenance and new construction alike.
  • Installs and maintain electronic access control systems (industrial and commercial security hardware). Routine programming of
    online/offline and non-networked electronic locks.
  • Manage and process locksmith-related service requests in IDN, to include electronically assigning tickets to locksmiths and closing
    out completed tickets.
  • Survey, quote, and manage projects pertaining to overall campus security needs while coordinating with other trades, departments,
    vendors and contractors.
  • Manage purchases made via procurement card, to include turning in all receipts and notating receipts with all required information
    related to the purchase.
  • Attend seminars pertaining to Locksmith operations
  • Participate in the Facilities Operations On-Call program. Required to carry cell phone 24/7 for on-call duty to respond to after-hour
    lock or security related issues.
  • Hurricane preparedness and cleanup.
  • Additional Duties as assigned

Education / skills required:

  • Associate degree, or vocational or technical school degree
  • 10 hour OSHA certification is preferred.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver’s license or ability to obtain one within six months of employment and
    maintain good driving record as determined by Florida Tech guidelines.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience required in area of expertise
