Florida Institute of Technology is currently searching for a Research Professional for the APSS department.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • CMS Muon upgrade work
  • CMS Physics analysis
  • Research Student supervision

The High Energy Particle Physics Group at the Florida Institute of Technology invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our efforts on the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at CERN. Detailed information on our group and research is available at We expect the successful applicant to take a leading role in our CMS physics analysis effort on searches for a long-lived dark photon with displaced dimuons and to significantly contribute to our involvement in the CMS Phase-2 muon endcap upgrade, such as the integration and testing of GEM muon detectors with readout electronics and data acquisition. The successful candidate will have substantial experience with construction, commissioning, and operation of gaseous particle detector systems and associated electronics ? preferably with micropattern gas detectors. He/she will be based at Florida Tech and is expected to organize and guide students participating in the project. The selected candidate is also expected to support some detector commissioning work in person at CERN.
