Florida Tech is currently searching for a Cook for the Panther Dining Hall.  This is a full-time position.

The Line Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving food at University dining areas. The position is accountable for following standardized recipes and maintaining the kitchen area to meet sanitation, health, and safety standards.  This cook generally operates in one cooking station (grill, pizza, deli, etc.) or in the main kitchen working from a list for ingredient preparation.  Generally works with front line oversight of the Production Cook or Chef.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • The Line Cook, prepares (generally in view of the customer) and serves food that has been made to order.  These orders are typically selected from a limited set menu, using standardized methods /recipes and prepared ingredients with limited equipment.
  • Sets up, breaks down and cleans assigned cooking station, which may include any or all of the following: Grill, Char Broiler, Fryer, Panini Press, Sandwich Make-up Refrigerator, Pizza Oven, Wok Range, Rotisserie Oven or similar equipment.
  • In buffet settings the line cook becomes a buffet attendant maintains fully stocked prepared food displays for either attendant served or customer self-service formats.
  • Performs routine kitchen cleaning and food preparation. 
  • Maintains required production records
  • Performs other duties within Dining Services or the University as assigned


Education/Skills required:

  • Minimum 0–2 years of relevant work experience required
  • High school diploma or GED
  • ServeSafe - CFPM

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and carrying frequently
  • Must be able to reach overhead and perform repetitious work
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds on a frequent basis and 40 pounds on an occasional basis
