Florida Institute of Technology is searching for a Dispatcher for the Office of Security.  This is a part-time position.

Campus Security Dispatchers responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting students and campus employees via the phone, email and in person. As well the ability to communicate with 911 or non-emergency numbers to provide the appropriate response. Dispatcher’s also provide administrative office support and must be able to perform various secondary administrative and clerical duties.
The ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills, experience in Microsoft Word and Excel and the ablity to remain calm and in control in a busy professional work place. This is a 10 hour shift position, working Saturday and Sunday, inclusive of holidays, nights and weekends. 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Answer multiple line phones, dispatch officers to appropriate locations, on and off campus, for daily calls and emergency situations.
  • Receives and responds to email correspondence and assists walk-ins with their inquiries following established procedures.
  • Provide clerical support as needed, special projects, scanning and data entry.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • May be required to work during emergency situations, which may require the officer to remain at the University until the emergency situation has terminated. Work designated alternate hours and perform other responsibilities as needed.

 

Education/Skills required:

  • High School diploma required.
  • State of Florida driver's license and maintain a good driving record as defined per Florida Tech insurance guidelines - Required.
  • Administrative experience, dispatch experience, computer knowledge in Microsoft Office; Excel and Word, and familiarity within our industry is preferred. Security, military, law enforcement, correctional, medical, dispatch and/or administrative support experience is favored.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years of relevant work experience required.

* Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment. All international degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES).
