Florida Institute of Technology is currently searching for a Director of IP Tech Transfer for the Office of Research.  This is a full-time position.

The Director of IP and Tech Transfer is responsible for commercial contracting, IP policy, Patent evaluation and processing, and technology transfer.  Assists faculty, administration and staff with all aspects of proposal preparation and submission including interpretation and clarification of sponsor guidelines, proposal budget development and review, completion of required sponsor forms, assurances and certifications; collection of necessary or pertinent data, as appropriate; compilation of and review of proposal components for accuracy, consistency and compliance with sponsor guidelines. Negotiates, clarifies terms and conditions with commercial sponsors to ensure consistence with university policies as well as state, local, and federal laws. Ensures completion of appropriate internal approvals of proposals, prior to submission of proposals. Develops, negotiates and maintains master research agreements. Researches and applies rules, laws, and policies concerning higher education contracts and subcontracts. Creates IP policy related to students, faculty, and staff.  Is the primary point of contact for tech transfer activities.  Develop standard language for commercial contracts to include IP terms.

 

  • Assist faculty, administration and staff with all aspects of proposal preparation and submission. Negotiate, clarify terms and conditions with sponsors to ensure consistency with university policies as well as state, local, and federal laws. Ensure completion of appropriate internal approvals of proposals, prior to submission.
  • Develop, negotiate and maintain master research agreements, NDAs, and teaming agreements
  • Research and apply rules, laws, and policies concerning higher education contracts  Assist with the development and implementation of Sponsored Program Policies and Procedures.
  • Develop IP and tech transfer processes and policies
  • Work with faculty to answer questions and concerns related to proposals/awards. Submit electronic proposals and assist with problems as well as the development and implementation of policies.
  • Work with faculty to answer questions and concerns related to invention disclosures and patent opportunities
  • Prepare monthly reports by entering / extracting data for: for IP, MRA, NDA, Patents, Tech transfer activity

 

 

  • Master’s degree related to IP, contracting, and tech transfer as needed
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience required in area of expertise

* Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment.
