The Florida Institute of Technology is currently searching for a Research Professional for the OEMS department.  This is a full-time position.

Responsible for operseeing and participating in a wide variety of skilled tasks, including acquisition, design, planning, installation, pre-deployment checks, troubleshooting, and repairs of service equipment for laboratories, field and student projects, project data electronic design and research.  Provides training for staff and students on the operation and maintenance of mechanical and electronic equipment using the required safety precautions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Safety enforcement for laboratory, field projects, and shipboard activities
  • Repair and service equipment for laboratories and field projects
  • Assist with mechanical and electronic quipment design for research and student projects
  • Train faculty, staff, and students on test equipment
  • Participate and direct pre-deployment checks for project data acquisition systems
  • Ability to travel to local off-campus project sides as necessary
  • Assist faculty in setting up laboratory projects as necessary
  • Provide long-range planning and material acquisitions for OEMS operations
  • Create and maintain both chemical and physical inventory lists for OEMS department
  • Additional duties as assigned by OEMS Department Head
  • B.S. degree in an engineering field preferred.
  • Experience required with electronics or mechanical equipment repair
  • Experience required with laboratory equipment repair
  • Shipboard experience
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience
