Electrician II

Florida Institute of Technology is currently searching for an Electrician II for the Facilities department. This is a full-time position. 

Maintenance, repair and new installation of all electrical systems on and off campus
Working hours are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 430pm with occasional overtime.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain Lighting and security lighting at Main Campus
  • Repair any and all electrical equipment on Main Campus and remote Sites.
  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance
  • Complete daily service requests for general electrical maintenance
  • Installation of new electrical equipment, ballasts, fixtures, lamps
  • Carry cell phone and radio for after hour on call and emergencies
  • Hurricane preparedness and cleanup.
  • Additional Duties as assigned

Education/Skills required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-5 years experience required in area of expertise
  • Electrical Brevard County Journeyman's license required
  • 10 hour OSHA certification (preferred)
  • Valid State of Florida driver's license and ability to maintain a good driving record as defined by Florida Tech's insurance company

Position requires a valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record as determined by FIT insurance guidelines

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time, bending, and stooping
  • Ability to work at heights, climb/walk up and down stairs/ladders
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Ability to perform repetitious work and to reach overhead
  • Must be able to work in extreme climatic conditions
